I've decided to do the Daily Shoot exercises for 2010. This is the blog to put all the pictures I take each day.

50 Gallon Manhole

50 Gallon Manhole
Originally uploaded by Oogie McGuire
There are no underground utilities here. Closest I could find was the used 50 gallon drum with the bottom cut out to protect the water valve of a friends sprinkler system. My alternate was a picture of our backhoe, a DIY manhole.

Manhole covers have character and quietly tell a story. Make a photo of a manhole cover in your neighborhood today.

Sunlight Geese

I get lens flair all the time, except when I'm trying to get it! These Canadian geese were flying overhead today. Not very creative but the only lens flare shot I managed today.

Lens flare is typically avoided, but can be used deliberately to good effect. Make a photo with creative lens flare.

Using contrast in your photography can give you very artistic shots. Make a color photo with high contrast today.

Code Breaker

Code Breaker
Originally uploaded by Oogie McGuire
My grandfather was a cryptographer. He used to send me letters in code that I had to break before I could read them. I recently found his old notebook and some newsletters and info from the ACA. I've had his basic cryptanalysis book for years. His code name was The Squire. A favorite activity was trying to break the code of his latest letter so I could see what he said.

Think of a favorite childhood sport, game, or activity. Make a nostalgic photo today. (@muffett68)

The sheep won't eat these, unfortunately.

Get down and get your knees dirty today. Find some plant life, get low to its level (close and wide), and make a photo.
